Restructure Your Business For Increased Web Exposure

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

The current trend in the Internet business is to have a domain name/URL, example www.yourproductA.com for EACH of your products and/or services. Then, one main ‘brochure’ page which is about you in general, and summarizes each of those individual product/services sites. I am sure you are saying – WHY would I want all that? Well, think of it as ‘franchising’ like McDonald’s does. The more restaurants that they have; the more likely you will be to stop into one whenever you are hungry. It’s the same way on the Internet; you are having multiple exposures on the web and the ability for Google, Yahoo, etc. to find YOU from a multitude of various searches. Does that make sense? Also, your copywriting and keyword elements can be specific for each site’s products/services, thus increasing your chances of higher search engine rankings. You probably think that this gets very expensive and hard to manage – I’ll deal with that later in this section. Below is an example of my sites and how I personally use this formula.

These are the individual product/service sites:

www.ormuspublishing.com – a book publishing company which I own with Sandy Kuiper. All of my CD’s are publishing through that company and please let me know if you have a book, CD, or manuscript which we may be able to help you with.

www.desertcanyoninstitute.com – training programs to become a certified hypnotherapist.

www.hpnotix.com – a dedicated site to my popular Las Vegas comedy stage hypnosis show with my co-star, Broadway and Hollywood actress Kit Smythe.

www.weddingvowbook.com – a complete guide to writing you own wedding service written by Dr. Maggie Pringlemeir and myself. A great book for ministers, newly engaged, wedding planners, and as a bridal gift.

www.classroompersuasion.com – a teacher in-service program based on the best-selling book the Psychology of Persuasion; which is geared specifically for teachers to help students increase retention and comprehension in the classroom.

www.realestatepersuasion.com – a persuasion sales training program for real estate professionals based on the best-selling book the Psychology of Persuasion.

www.persuasionmarketingexperts.com – a training program for small businesses to learn how to harness the power of persuasion and influence sales and marketing techniques from Fortune 500 companies. Small businesses do not have the financial resources to hire expensive Madison Avenue advertising and marketing experts; therefore we bring these techniques to a level which can be used in any small to medium sized business.

THEN from all of those individual sites, my main brochure site is www.TheKenOwens.com

The cost for purchasing and maintaining multiple sites has drastically decreased in the past few years. You can now purchase your domain names for less than $10 per year. Then, these following two resources will save you even more money with hosting and site management:

www.hostwithken.com - want the best and cheapest website hosting available today? I am now an affiliate reseller and will help you switch your domain name hosting to a much more economical location. A single website can be as low as $4.95 per month, all the way up to unlimited site hostings with an attached 1-800 number for customer service or ordering options. Go to www.hostwithken.com and just click the Sign Up Now button.

www.webmarketingautopilot.com – the best internet marketing tool available today! This software program will allow you to track each of your domain names separately, allowing individual collection of email addresses and sales tracking per site. With the feature of sending ezine newsletters to each individual site’s subscribers and/or your total combined list of emails. This program also has an integrated shopping cart for product/service sales, along with affiliate programs if you want to allow others to sell your items and pay them a commission.

Native American Navajo Culture

Tuesday, June 2nd, 2009

I spent today with my adopted Native American family.  It is always so educational to spend time with other cultures to learn beliefs and language patterns from other cultural groups.  That is also one of the reason why I love to travel to Europe and other countries.

I have spent much time over the past several years on many Native American Tribal Reservations here in the USA.  Since they were the original peoples here in the USA, I am always interested in their spiritual and cultural traditions.  One thing that I find so amazing with the Navajo culture is that their language does not include ‘absolute’ words or phrases.  They do not speak in absolutes, like so many other cultures do.

For example, they do not have words like ‘always or never‘ in their vocabulary.  You will not hear a Navajo person say phrases like, “I will always love you” or “I will never speak to you again”.  Their language patterns and belief system knows that there is no basis for strict absolute words such as those.  Circumstances and nature may change in the future (and often do), which allow for absolutes to not be followed through with.

This leads me to the idea that if our cultures adopted some of those same language patterns, how much more peaceful, loving, and successful we might be in our businesses, personal, and professional lives.  How much more beneficial would it be if in business we talked through (and resolved) a customer service issue instead of saying, “I am never going to do business with that company again”?  I really think that more conflicts would be resolved; and we would experience better business and personal relationships if we adopted more positive and constructive communication methods like this one I learned today from the Navajo culture.

The next time you are speaking to someone, check your vocabulary for the use of absolutes and try to rephrase not using those words.  Here is a list of a few absolutes: always, never, none, all, every, everyone, everytime.  See if your communication is more open, honest, and constructive if you eliminate absolutes.

Entertainer Danny Gans

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

Yesterday, I had the pleasure to attend the private memorial service for Las Vegas Entertainer Danny Gans. He died suddenly 3 weeks ago at the age of 52. For those who aren’t familiar with his name, he was a big star here in Las Vegas as a singer, comedian, and impressionist. He took over the Mirage showroom when Sigfried and Roy had to close their show and then just 2 months ago moved over to the Wynn Resort. Danny won Best Entertainer here in Las Vegas for 12 years in a row, but was really only a ‘known’ star in Las Vegas, even though he was such a remarkable talent. Most all of the other entertainers here in Las Vegas were at the service including; Donny Osmond, Carrot Top, Cris Angel, George Wallace, and Sigfried and Roy, to name just a few. The Wynn Resort and Gans’ Family arranged a beautiful memorial service.

So, what does that have to do with a business application and learning lesson for you? Danny started out his career as a pro baseball player and then after a bad shoulder injury, honed his skills as an entertainer and took that to the top here in Las Vegas. We all have had setbacks in our life or careers and need to use Danny as an example. Just because one career goal is finished, pick yourself up and move onto the next. When it seems one door closes for you, look around for the next one to open up!

Danny made millions of dollars each year here in Vegas, but was really only well-known in this town. Not much national stardom or press. You in your business or product don’t need to be everything to everyone. Find your niche and/or locale, and be a strong perfected player in that market. Hone your skills in your product or service and become the BEST you can.

Be of service to many. The more lives you can impact in a positive manner, the more successful you will become. Laughter and entertaining allowed Danny to touch the lives of thousands of people every week here in Vegas.

Give to charity. Danny had many charities that benefited from his generosity, and you need to give back to the community as well to be successful. In this down turned economy, there are many charity organizations that are grateful for all donations - time, money, products, or services.

When a sudden death like this happens to someone as talented and young as Danny, it is a wake-up call to all of us to reflect on our lives, see where we are headed, and make the necessary changes to become more successful, more happy, and more productive in what we are doing.  For further information, you can check out www.dannygans.com

Expand Your Marketing Horizons

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Last night, I went to a business networking and social mixer event at the Erotic Heritage Museum here in Las Vegas.  Wow, what an experience LOL.  Did you know that there was porn available back in 1915 in the silent movies?  They show a clip of it from back then.  Did you know that peep shows date back over 1,000 years and puppets were used in pornographic skits back then instead of live people?  Hmmmm, that is probably where the hit Broadway musical Avenue Q got its idea!  Anyways, it was a very interesting evening and I met a couple people to do some future projects with.

I say this to remind everyone, that in these rough economic times, one has to broaden your thoughts on typical marketing and look at the obscure avenues to help drum up business.  I do admit that last night’s venue for this event was a bit out in left field, but then this is Las Vegas where sin is the norm.   Just remember that marketing is everything, and everything is marketing when it come to sustaining and/or growing your business.  No matter where you happen to be going, always have a stack of business cards with your website on it to hand out.  That includes Walmart or the Erotic Museum.  YOU are the image of your company and you always need to be thinking marketing, marketing, marketing in every and all occasions.

PS.  If you get here to Las Vegas and you have an open mind (it is all xxx graphic stuff), check out the Erotic Heritage Museum, it is truly an educational experience.
